Alberta "Bertie"'s Story

Mrs. Alberta "Bertie" Bennington, 78, passed away peacefully at her home Jan. 3, 2018.
Bertie was born April 25, 1939 in Vigo County, Indian, a daughter of the late Melvin and Edith (Archer) Frazier. She married her high school sweetheart Robert "Bob" Bennington on June 8, 1958. He survives. They resided in Boone County their entire married life.
Bertie was a 1958 graduate of Zionsville High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper for several companies including Ayr-Way, Collectors Corner, Deb Smith Interiors and Rolls Royce.
She enjoyed many hobbies including camping, traveling, gardening, sewing, reading, and testing her luck at the casinos. Her favorite time was spent with her family. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Lebanon Eagles.
Survivors include her husband Bob, children: Barbara (Bob) Mason, of Lebanon; Diana Shockley, of Avon; Donna (Tracy) Baker, of Lebanon; and Doug (Michelle) Bennington, of Brownsburg; grandchildren Dustin (Heather) Mason, Wyatt Mason, Travis Lowery, Mitchell Baker, Kaitlyn Bennington, Ashley Bennington and Kyle Bennington; great-grandson Connor Mason; and sister-in-law Lois Frazier, of Florida. Bertie was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Jimmy (infant), Albert (infant) Luther Frazier Jr., and grandson Quinten Shockley.
Family and friends gathered Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 for visitation from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and a service was held on Monday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
Bertie was laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown. People are invited to visit the website www.strawmyerdrury.com where you may sign her online register and leave a personal message. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boone County Cancer Society, 117 W. Elm St., Lebanon, IN 46052 or charity of donor's choice.
