Ann Alexander Schmidt, longtime resident of Zionsville and Indianapolis, passed away on June 5, 2015.. She was born on Oct. 25, 1922, and was originally from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.. Ann was a graduate of Temple University, and her first job was as a dietitian at a YMCA camp. She later taught kindergarten in Zionsville for 14 years. She also taught home economics in the Eagle Township school system and was a 4-H leader.. For 17 years Ann worked with the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service as a clothing and textiles specialist. Her passion was quilting, which she taught and enjoyed for many years.. Ann is survived by her son, Lawrence A. Ward; daughter, Lee Ann Ward; grandsons, Richard Lee Ward and Adam Alexander Ward; and stepsons, Karl Schmidt and Gary Schmidt.. She was preceded in death by her husband, retired Air Force Col. Karl J. Schmidt.
