Annabelle (Ann) Mary Kafoure Freije, 89, departed this life peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 9, 2015.. Born on Feb. 16, 1925, she was the daughter of Frank and Julia Kalil Kafoure. She was a resident of Indianapolis, retiring in Zionsville. She graduated from Ben Davis High School and married the love of her life, Frederick M. Freije. Together they managed Freije’s Pharmacy for many years.. Freije was devoted to her family and her church. She prepared many fabulous family dinners, a tradition that her children have continued. She was the Girl Scout troop leader for both of her daughters, becoming a role model for many young women along the way. During her active years, she volunteered at the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville. She was also an avid quilter. Freije was a lifelong member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, receiving both the St. George Award and the Midwest Diocese Metropolitan Philip award from the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Women for her many years of dedicated service and leadership.. She is survived by her children, George Freije, Brenda (Jack) FitzSimons, Elaine (Brent) Eckhart, and Bruce (Dolores) Freije; sister, Patricia (Bill) Freije; eight grandchildren, John, David (Karla) and Anne FitzSimons, Bruce, Scott, and Jeff Freije, Laura (Jack) Murakami, and Bill Eckhart; two great-granddaughters, Gloria Ann FitzSimons and Alice Agia Murakami; and several nieces and nephews.. Her parents and her loving husband preceded her in death, as did her brother, John Kafoure.. The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Visiting Angels, most recently, Toni Taylor, Willette Tevis, and Lakreisha Heard.. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Indiana Funeral Care Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, with a Trisagion service at 7:30 p.m.. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at St. George Orthodox Church, 10748 E. 116th St., Fishers. A vigil preceding the funeral service will begin at noon; entombment at Washington Park Cemetery North will follow the service.. Arrangements are being handled by Indiana Funeral Care.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Orthodox Church.
