Elizabeth Lehman Dageforde, a longtime resident of Anderson, Indiana, and recent resident of Zionsville, passed away on Oct. 25, 2016, at age 93.
She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 25, 1923. After graduating from Scott High School in 1940 at the age of 17, Elizabeth started working for the Bostwick-Braun Company in Toledo and attended Business College in Toledo. She met her husband, Alvin Dageforde, at Bostwick-Braun. They were married on Jan. 1, 1947, and moved to Anderson in 1948.
After being active in her children's school activities and serving at St. John's Lutheran Church, Elizabeth started work at General Motors in 1964 and retired in 1988. She worked as a secretary at Guide Lamp in the personnel department.
After retirement, Elizabeth spent much of her time visiting her grandchildren in both Richmond, Virginia, and Louisville, Kentucky. Much of her life was dedicated to her family, and she loved her extended family very much. She was defined by her generosity to family, her love of board games and card games, and her unfailing remembrances of her very extended family through birthday and special occasion cards. Four years ago, she moved to Zionsville to be closer to her son, Ron, and his family.
Elizabeth is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: David and Emily Dageforde of Louisville, Jim and Kathy Dageforde of Richmond, and Ron and Debby Dageforde of Zionsville. She has five grandchildren, including Leigh Anne and Sean from Louisville and Dan, Laura and Carl from Richmond. Her family also includes: JD Feser; Dawn, Aaron, Brooke and Emma Snoeberger; Jesse, Stephanie, Cole and Ava Reynolds. There are also many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces.
Elizabeth was pre-deceased by her husband in 1966.
