Ellis Leon Wilson, 85, of Zionsville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015.. Born in Royalton, he attended Zionsville Community High School and served as president of the 1948 graduating class before attending Purdue University.. He served in the United States Air Force as an electrician. Leon retired in 1987 as a Senior Quality Analyst and Review Representative for the Quality Assurance Department of Allison Division of General Motors Corp. He later worked for Butler Automotive Group.. Leon was a member of the Zionsville Christian Church and the American Legion Post No. 79. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Zionsville Lions Club, which he served as president in 1985. He never knew a stranger and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Jane (Cooper) Wilson; daughter, Kathy Wilson Bennett; granddaughter, Jamie Bennett Lecklitner (Andrew); brother, William “Boomer” Wilson (Janet); nephew, Douglas Wilson; niece, Amy (Wilson) Hahn (Jim) and Gregg Wilson (Angie).. He was preceded in death by his parents.. A celebration of Leon’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N. Ninth St., with burial in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, and an hour prior to service on Friday at the church.. Memorial contributions may be made to Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N.
