Honas's Story

Honas Hayes Richards, 79, of Zionsville, passed away on July 12, 2016.
Honas was born on July 19, 1936, to Matilda Still and Herbert Richards in Cincinnati, Ohio. He lead a 47-year career as a trainman with Pennsylvania Railroad Company, which later became Conrail. In 1960 he joined the Army and served as a heavy weapons infantryman at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. Honas was a local chairman of the United Transportation Union, an avid golfer and NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Toni Richards-Thompson (Martin); granddaughter, Erin Thompson; and his two sisters, Jenny Cox and Jerry Hols.
Honas is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Diersing Richards; his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
Cremation services entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan- Zionsville.
