Howard George Lueders passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Carmel, Indiana, early on the morning of Oct. 11, 2016. He was 87 years old.
Howard graduated with an MS in aerodynamic engineering from Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri, and, after serving briefly in the Army, enjoyed a long career at Allison Motors designing gas turbine engines. In 1976 Howard was awarded the Manly Memorial Medal by the Society of Automotive Engineering for design innovations he developed for aeronautic power plants. He retired in 1993 as section chief for Turbine Design and Aerodynamic Engineering.
A quiet, thoughtful man, Howard was always happiest fishing, hunting or camping with his family.
He is survived by his three children, John Lueders (Elizabeth), Dan Lueders (Mary) and Susan Lueders Trajkovski (Christopher); and his four grandchildren, Blake Lueders, Grace Lueders, Jordan Trajkovski and Philip Trajkovski.
The family will hold private services.
Memorial contributions can be made to Ducks Unlimited.
