Jerrie Ann Holmes Spees, 85, of Zionsville, died February 22, 2016. Jerrie was born February 13, 1931 in Arkansas City, Kansas, the daughter of John Hobert and Marguerite Marie Richard Holmes; they preceded her in death in death as did her brother, Phillip J. Holmes and her granddaughter, Josie Spees.
For well over a half century, the Spees family has been known to and provided cared for the community of Zionsville. Jerrie was retired from Zionsville Community Middle School where she was a teacher and guidance counselor. Her influence and impact on so many young lives transcended generations and still lives today in many of Zionsville’s current residents who were students of hers.
Mrs. Spees is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Don Spees; her sons, J.B. (Susan) of Simpsonville, SC, Mike of Indianapolis, Tim (Stacey) of Zionsville, Tom of Indianapolis, and Dr. Kevin (Shelley) of Zionsville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jillian, John Camden, Rachel, Jennifer, Zachary, Sydney, Sam, Joe, Megan, Connor, and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be celebrated at a place very important and dear to Don and Jerrie, the Zionsville United Methodist Church, 9644 Whitestown Rd, Zionsville at 3 pm, Saturday, February 27, 2016 with visitation following the memorial service.
