Jerry's Story

It is with great sadness that Zionsville has lost one of its own. Jerry Joe Davidson, 74, of Zionsville, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, from cancer in the arms of his loving wife Elizabeth. Jerry was born Aug. 2, 1942, to Marjorie and Aubrey Davidson in Indianapolis.
Jerry was a Zionsville High School graduate with the class of 1960. Upon graduation, Jerry began working at Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company. He worked there for 37 years. In retirement, Jerry fulfilled a lifelong dream when he opened his own welding shop, Circle City Welding, Inc. He was a 20-year member of the Oil, Chemical, Atomic Workers International Union. Jerry also served on the Vestry at St. Francis of the Fields Church.
Jerry was a man's man who loved his life, his family and welding. He was so proud of the fact that he built his own home in 1974, where he resided until his passing. Jerry was known throughout the community for his craftsmanship, work ethic, and his colorful welding hats. He never met a stranger and was always willing and able to help others.
He is survived by the love of his life, Elizabeth, his wife of 45 years; six children, Brad, Brenda, Christy, Joe, Curtis and Caroline; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny and Jeff Davidson; and one sister, Mary Lou Funk.
The celebration of life funeral service was on Friday, July 7, at St. Francis of the Fields Church, 1525 Mulberry St.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Francis of the Fields Church or the Boys & Girls Club of Zionsville.
