Mrs. Joan McCloskey, 84, of Whitestown, passed away Oct. 19, 2016.
Joan was born on Dec. 20, 1931, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the now late Harry and Matilda (Monfreda) Walls. She was married to John V. McCloskey; he preceded her in death.
Joan graduated from St. Mary's High School. She met John at the Buzz Bucket while Jitterbugging! She enjoyed refinishing furniture, canning, doing arts and crafts, and loved being with her family.
Survivors include her six children, Diana L. (David L.) Leffler of Thorntown, Pamela (Jack) Summitt of Lebanon, Sheila A. (Chico) Bear of Pittsboro, Mark W. McCloskey of Lebanon, John M. McCloskey and wife, Rebekah Wilton-McCloskey of Bloomington, and Daniel J. (Angela K.) McCloskey of Zionsville; grandchildren, Michael P. (Sherri) Leffler of Zionsville, Tammy Jo (Lloyd) Lee of Lebanon, Rusty Wethington of Thorntown, Anthony "Tony" Wethington of Indianapolis, Jim (Audra) Bear Jr. of Lizton, Bruce (Hollie) Bear of Pittsboro, Mark W. (Wendy) McCloskey Jr. of Lebanon, Sean Patrick McCloskey and Donovan Jacob McCloskey, both of Zionsville; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandsons Jack R. Leffler II, Norman R. McCloskey and Eric A. McCloskey.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, Oct. 22, for visitation from 11 a.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.
