John Valentine Sitzmann, 25, died on Sept. 20, 2017 at the Naval Air Station in Kingsville, Texas. John was born on May 18, 1992 in Baltimore, Maryland.
He attended the International School of Indiana and graduated from Zionsville Community High School in Zionsville, Indiana. In 2014, John graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and mathematics.
He enlisted in the Navy in January of 2016. John spent the last five months in Baltimore helping his brother, Joe, recover from leukemia at Hopkins.
John is survived by his parents, James and Zoe Sitzmann, of Zionsville; his sisters Maria, of Zionsville, Tess, of New York City, Anna (Austin), of Pittsburgh; and his brother, Joseph, of Zionsville. John is also survived by his grandfather, Eugene Sitzmann, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and his grandmother, Lida H. Churchville, of Providence, Rhode Island.

The family will receive friends at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD 21401, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD 21401, Saturday at 9 a.m. Interment in Saint Anne's Cemetery. An online guest book is available at www.johnmtaylorfuneralhome.com.
