John William Twenty, 93, of Zionsville, passed away July 28, 2011 at Robin Run Healthcare Facility.. John was born in Danvers, Ill. on Jan. 18, 1918 to Arthur and Ada Twenty, who both preceded him in death. One brother (Marian) and one sister (Hazel) also preceded him in death.. He graduated from Carlock High School, Carlock, Ill. in 1936. He married Betty Eileen Reum on July 28, 1940 and remained happily married for 66 years until her death in 2007.. John worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company during WWII manufacturing military armaments. He returned to the family farm after the war and operated the business for 30 years. For several years prior to retirement in 1980, he was the Plant Maintenance Supervisor for Beich Candy Company in Bloomington, Ill. He was a member and Elder of Second Presbyterian Church. For more than 70 years, he was an active member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons serving as Most Worshipful Master on three occasions. He was also an active member in the Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite and Shriners.. John is survived by a son Dr. John (Ruth) Twenty of Zionsville; grandchildren Kyle (Beth) Twenty of Crystal Lake, Ill. and Erin (Greg) Twenty Benedict of Zionsville; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha and Alexis Twenty and Jackson and Madison Benedict.. Funeral services were on Tuesday, Aug. 2, in the Gothic Chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. He was laid to rest at Crown Hill following the service.. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church Endowment for Music and Fine Arts.
