Lucille Wathen Williams, age 92, passed away suddenly on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, in Indianapolis.. She was a native Kentuckian, born May 25, 1923, in Mt. Sherman, Kentucky, LaRue County. Lucille graduated from Buffalo High School in 1942 and began work at the Evans Department Store in Hodgenville, Kentucky. She moved to Louisville in 1944 and held various jobs in the Louisville area. She began her career at AT&T in 1951 as a long distance operator, holding various positions with them until her retirement in 1982. Lucille was a Kentucky Colonel and a longtime member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville.. She is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Gerald) Pullen, of Zionsville; four grandchildren, Alex, of Winter Park, Florida, and Katie, Jaclyn and Grant Pullen, all of Zionsville; one sister, Evelyn Gardner, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.. Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Williams; parents, Hut and Cora (Conner) Wathen; two sisters, Alma Ford and Alene Edwards; two brothers, Roydon and Alvin Wathen; one niece and four nephews.. A funeral service to celebrate Lucile’s life will be conducted at noon on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 11 a.m. until funeral time Saturday..
