Marjorie's Story

Marjorie M. (Harding) Turley, 93, passed away July 12, 2016.
She was a resident of Zionsville, born Aug. 2, 1922, in Zionsville to George and Hazel (Gardner) Harding.
She married Max E. Turley on May 18, 1945, and he preceded her in death in 2013.
Marjorie was a 1940 graduate of Zionsville High School and a 1942 graduate of Lains Business College. She worked for the Indiana War Finance Committee, which later became the Savings Bonds Division of the U.S. Treasury Department. She retired from the government in 1958. In 1963, she started working for Zionsville Savings and Loan, retiring in 1989 as a manager.
She was a member of the Zionsville United Methodist Church, Psi Iota Xi philanthropic sorority, and the Zionsville Women's Club. She was also secretary/treasurer for the Zionsville Cemetery for many years.
Marjorie was an avid sports fan. She had season tickets and loved going to IU football games. She also enjoyed watching IU basketball.
Marjorie's memory and legacy carry on through her son, Michael E. Turley, of Zionsville; her siblings, Germaine Chapman, of Lebanon, Joyce (Dale) Meyer, of Zionsville, and Joseph G. Harding, of Zionsville; nieces and nephews, Nancy Chapman, Stephen Dunwoody, Rick Turley, Rod Turley, Tamala Turley, Kim Minnich, Mary Webber, Barbara Harding, George Harding, Jon E. Meyer, and David H. Meyer; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister, Rose Mary Dunwoody, as well as her parents and husband.
A service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Zionsville United Methodist Church, 9644 Whitestown Rd., Zionsville. Friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until the service time at the church on Saturday. Marjorie will be laid to rest in the Zionsville Cemetery.
