Richard Allen Hussung, age 78, of Whitestown, passed away Aug. 5, 2014.. He was born in Indianapolis on May 8, 1936, to Albert H. and Gertrude A. Hussung. Richard attended Indianapolis Public School No. 67, George Washington High School. He worked at Western Hardware and Beasley’s Garage, and he retired from Peine Engineering (formerly Indianapolis Weathermakers) in 1995 after 40 years.. Richard was a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Steam Fitters No. 440, which he joined in 1955. He was also a member of the Zionsville Jaycees, where he installed the original flushing toilets and was the president in 1965. In his continuous community support, he worked with the Zionsville Lions Club to design and install the original Tot Lot for small tykes in the community park. During the 1970s he played men’s softball and coached T-ball and girls’ softball. Richard also bowled for several years with his father and friends at the old Speedway lanes.. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Arlene Hussung; children Lori Kaye (Tony) Arrington, of Cloverdale, Linda Raye (Jimmy) Sparks, of Tucson, Arizona, Lisa Faye (Tommy) Spegal, of Cicero, Richard Allen Jr. (Sheri) Hussung, of Lebanon, Stephanie Irene (Kent), of Kempton, and step-son Steven Reeves, of Marion; grandchildren, Bradley Gilliam, Morgan Turley, Joshua Hussung, Benjamin Hussung, Nicole Swanke, Danielle Hussung, Collin Barnett, Ryan Burns, Tyler Burns, Jagger Busenbarrick, Kristy Reeves and Brenda Reeves; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Phyllis Jean Hussung.. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline R. Hussung; brothers, Albert H. Hussung Jr. and Arnold F. Hussung; and sister, Doris Mae Hussung.. Visitation is Friday, Aug. 8, at Flanner and Buchanan – Zionsville, and a funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, with burial following at Zionsville Cemetery..
