Rita Kay (Moody) Webster went to her heavenly home on Oct. 19, 2014.. She was born May 29, 1940, near Browns Valley, Indiana, in Montgomery County, the daughter of Oscar and Ruby (Simpson) Moody.. Rita Kay lived the ideal country childhood, full of love and adventure. She graduated from Waveland High School and went on to Butler University, where she met her future husband, David Webster. While at Butler, Rita Kay was involved in a number of campus and Christian activities and was named homecoming queen. She graduated with a degree in physical education and became a teacher as her new husband became an actuary with American United Life Insurance.. Rita Kay and David became the proud parents of two children, Jodie Ann Lamb (husband, Don) and John David Webster (wife, Kirsten). Her No. 1 priority became raising her children as she continued to be a substitute teacher as time permitted. During this period of her life, Rita Kay and David began the life habit of devoting much of their time and energy into volunteer ministry within their church and community.. God blessed Rita Kay with many special gifts. She was a gifted vocalist, worship leader and choir director over the years — first at Traders Point Christian Church, and later at New Hope Christian Church. Rita Kay had a special knack for making everything beautiful. She never lost her love for the country and was an avid gardener, horticulturalist and horse lover. With her abilities to cook and sew, it seemed that there was not much she could not do.. More than anything, Rita Kay loved her family. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, who became the joy of her recent years. Rita Kay was a very active grandmother as the ultimate soccer fan, 4-H supporter, tennis coach, friend and encourager.. Rita Kay’s love for the Lord combined with her adventurous spirit led her on many short-term mission trips. She and David traveled to Panama, Brazil and Thailand, as well as many domestic locations. If Rita Kay became convinced there was a need she could fulfill, she followed the lead.. She leaves behind her husband; two children; seven grandchildren, Shelby, Emma, Riley and Faith Lamb, Zion, Jaden and Aria Webster; brother, John Moody and wife, Ginny; sister, Penny Sparks and husband, Brian; sister-in-law, Sue Moody; and several nieces and nephews.. Rita Kay was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dennis Moody.. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, at New Hope Christian Church, 5780 South 650 East, in Whitestown, Indiana, with Rev. David Bourne officiating.. Visitation is planned from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, and 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
