Stanton's Story

Stanton W. Smith passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at age 82.. He was born in Nebraska, then relocated to Zionsville when he was 7 years old. There, “Tanny,” as he was affectionately called, went through school and eventually married the love of his life, Rose (nee Lovett), who preceded him in death.. He was the loving father of Laura Lee (Mark) Langer, Roger A. (Mary Beth) Smith and Joel H. (Linda) Smith; very proud grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of five; and brother-in-law of Marian Smith of Zionsville.. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rollin and Freda (nee Wasser); his sister, Norma Thurston Reed; and his brother, Allan Smith.. He is also loved by many cherished nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.. Services were held with burial at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Stanton’s name may be sent to Calvary United Methodist Church, 3177 S. 107th St., West Allis, WI 53227.. “Dad, Stanton, Tanny, Little Brother, Uncle Fred, you will be dearly missed.”
