Thelma Eileen (Dallas) Kanis, 87, of Zionsville, passed away Dec. 30, 2014.. She was born in Spearsville, Indiana, the daughter of Chester and Verna Dallas. Thelma graduated from Spearsville High School and married Herman Kanis on March 19, 1949; he preceded her in death in 2006. She worked at Eli Lilly until the birth of her son and was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church.. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Norman Kanis, and his wife, Amy; grandchildren, Emily, Andrew and Gregory; two sisters, Beulah Walker, of Greenwood, and Veda Schrougham, of Morgantown.. Besides her parents and husband, Thelma also was preceded in death by her two sisters, Marguerite and Bea.. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 W. Pine St., Zionsville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Mts. Run Cemetery in Zionsville.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Bosma Enterprises, 8020 Zionsville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46268..
