Dorothy P. Farris, of Zionsville, died at the age of 94 on Sept. 15, 2014.. She was born Dorothy Priscilla Aldous, to Anna Schiesser Aldous and Charles H. Aldous, on Feb. 16, 1920, in Brooklyn, New York. When Dorothy was 12 years old, the Aldous family moved to Vincennes and later to Indianapolis, where her father was an accountant. Dot, as she was known, was an alumna of Shortridge High School. Soon after her schooling, in 1938, she married John H. Booth Jr., with whom she had four children. She later married Walton A. Farris, a retired Ford Motor Company safety manager. Mr. Farris died in 1991.. Dorothy considered her chosen calling to be caring for her family. However, for a time she was employed at Wm. H. Block and Company in Indianapolis. Her love and devotion to family members was evident throughout her life. She will be missed by all.. She is survived by her children: John C. Booth, Julia A. Boyer, Jean E. Maurer and Jo Ann Carter; two stepsons, James Farris and Charles Farris; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Barbara Aldous; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother Arthur Aldous; and two sisters, Ruth Miller and Annie Harding.. A family memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept., 27, at Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 W. Pine St.. Dot was a lifelong, avid reader.
