Duane Arthur Burt, 89, of Zionsville, was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Feb. 19, 1928, and passed away peacefully at Hoosier Village Health Care Center on June 19, 2017.
He served in the U.S. Navy for two years, then attended Colorado College where he graduated and worked for the City of Colorado Springs. He then moved to Los Angeles, Calif. where he worked for Hughes Aircraft as a field engineer for 20 years.
He met Phyllis Dougherty in Los Angeles, where they married and then moved to Indianapolis in 1972. Duane joined Allied Printing Service, a company founded by his wife's grandfather and father, and retired after 26 years.
He lived in the Village of Zionsville until he and Phyllis moved to Hoosier Village. Duane loved and collected antique radios, electronic equipment and computers, and you could always find him at the annual "Ham Fest".
Duane is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis (Dougherty) Burt; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda and Joe Jessup, Barbara and Don Rollins, and Lynn Dougherty; three nieces and one nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A reception was held on Saturday, June 24, at Hoosier Village.
