James Knabe Jr., age 88, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and formerly of Atlantis, Florida, passed away on Feb. 7, 2015.. Knabe was born on Aug. 26, 1926, in Effingham, Illinois, to Harry and Gertrude Knabe.. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the WWII era. Knabe was a member and communicant of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana, Florida, and the Atlantis Country Club in Atlantis, Florida. He worked with Shell Oil Company for 35 years as a machinist.. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Carolyn A. Knabe; two loved children, Jane L. Hall, and her husband, James W. Hall, and Robert Knabe; three adored grandchildren, Rebecca Hall, Amanda Crouse, and her husband, Matthew Crouse, and Douglas Hall; two admired sisters, Martha Repking and Genevieve Beunker; and one precious great-grandson, Cooper Crouse.. A beloved daughter, Linda Knabe, preceded him in death in 1990.. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1000 W. Lantana Road, Lantana, Florida..
