Julio Cesar Campins Sr., 82, of Zionsville, passed away June 16, 2014.. Julio was born in Palma Soriano, Oriente, Cuba, and immigrated with his family to the United States in 1967. He was a diesel mechanic for McLean Trucking for years before going on the road driving for Roadway and later retiring as a Teamster. He always enjoyed working on engines, but his greatest passion in life was his family, who will miss him dearly. Playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the highlight of his day.. Julio is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Campins; son, Ramiro (Laura) Campins III, of Zionsville; sister, Ana Rosa Batista; four grandchildren, Ashley (Chad) Rieder, Dustin (Jackie) Campins, Ana Campins and Isabella Campins; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Brentley Campins. Summer Rieder and Ryker Campins.. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Julio Cesar Campins Jr.; brother, Ramiro A. Campins Jr.; and sisters, Laura Sanchez and Doralia Acosta.. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Flanner and Buchanan - Zionsville with entombment Saturday, June 21, at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.. Memorial contributions in Julio's honor may be made to a charity of your choice.
