Lonnie Lee Cogburn passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 in Fort Myers, Fla.. Rooster was born in Dewar, Okla., to Cecil and Marguerite Cogburn. Following service in the United States Army from which he was honorably discharged in 1949, he attended and graduated from North Texas State University.. His career with the Recordak Corp. began in 1957 in Shreveport, La., From there, he was transferred to San Antonio, Texas, as a sales representative. He then served as district sales manager for Eastman Kodak in Oklahoma City, Okla., starting in 1965, followed by stints as district sales manager in New Orleans and Houston.. He retired in 1984 as district sales manager in Oklahoma City. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Evelyn, moved to Fort Myers, Fla., to enjoy sun and relaxation.. Rooster was much traveled, a wonderful raconteur and knew everybody everywhere. Whether at the grocery store, golf course or social gathering he created an amazing impression on his audience.. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Evelyn Marie in 2008.. He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Gillaspie, son Jeffrey (Kim) Cogburn, daughter Leslie (Bobby) Ware, grandchildren Lyndsie (Matt) Dempsey, Peyton (Amber) Ware, Greg (Kara) Cogburn and Patrick Cogburn; and great-grandchildren Cameron Dempsey and Graham Dempsey.. He spread much love and laughter throughout his full life and found joy in other people’s joy. Rooster was a shining example of a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.
