Marcia S. Lowder Baker, 59, a lifelong Zionsville resident, died Friday evening, May 15, 2015, at her rural Zionsville home.. Marcia was born Nov. 6, 1955, in Bethesda, Maryland, the oldest of four children, to J. Marion and Mary Margaret Parr Lowder. She grew up in Zionsville and was a 1974 graduate of Zionsville High School, where she was active as an Eaglette and a member of the Royalaires. After graduating high school, Marcia continued her education at Michigan State University for three years before graduating with a bachelor's degree in education from Indiana University.. After graduating from IU, she enjoyed a short teaching career at Sheridan and Zionsville schools before joining her family at Lowder Insurance Agency in Zionsville. Marcia was a licensed insurance agent for more than 30 years, helping build a business — along with her brothers, husband, and sister-in-law — that was founded by her parents in 1960.. Family was the center point of Marcia’s life. She spent every day of her life surrounded by those she loved the most. While home and the office filled her days, the family truly enjoyed their days together every summer at their Indian Lake Cottage in the upper peninsula near Manistique, Michigan. The Lowder family cottage was where so many wonderful memories were created and family life was thoroughly enjoyed.. Marcia will be fondly remembered for all the beauty she radiated. Although recent times have proven difficult for her physically, her illness could not take her beautiful, sensitive, loving, compassionate spirit. She will be always loved and forever missed by all who knew her.. Marcia is survived by her husband, Rob Baker, with whom she just celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on May 5. Also surviving is her daughter, Maria Suzanne Baker; her father, J. Marion Lowder; her brothers, Rick Lowder, and his wife, Susan, and Bob Lowder, and his wife, Mary; her nephew, Eric Lowder; her niece, Lauren Lowder; and her sister-in-law, Vicki Baker.. Marcia was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Margaret Parr Lowder; and her younger sister, Mary Ann Lowder.. Visitation is Tuesday, May 19, at Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N. 9th St., Zionsville. A service celebrating her faith and life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, also at the church. Burial will follow the service on Wednesday at Salem Cemetery, rural Zionsville.. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N. 9th St., Zionsville, IN 46077..
