Richard F "Dick" Clark, of Zionsville, lost his long and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, June 23, 2016.
Dick was born on June 5, 1934, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to John and Rose (Berndt) Clark.
Dick graduated from St. Mary's Jr. High School in 1950 and from Oshkosh High School in 1953. He was raised in the boating business and spent his teenage years working for the family-owned business, Clark and Lund Boat Company. He spent his adult career as a salesman in the food and beverage industry, beginning with 7-Up Bottling Company in Oshkosh before transferring to Indiana as general sales manager in Brazil in 1970, and to Indianapolis as state sales director in 1974. In 1981 he joined the sales department of McFarling Foods, Indianapolis, retiring in 1996.
His love of boats, lakes and vacationing near the ocean remained a constant throughout his lifetime. He thoroughly enjoyed his little lake house and boat in Florida and especially valued the wonderful friendships he made there. Dick's happiest days were those spent with family and friends. He will be remembered as a caring, kind, sensitive and gentle man. His friendly manner, sense of humor and quick wit made him a fun and interesting person to be around. He was a huge Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts fan, and a fan of any team that could beat the (bleep) out of the Cowboys. Dick was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Zionsville.
Left to honor his memory is his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon (Nelson) Clark; daughters, Debra (John) Cook, of Oklahoma City; Diane (Jim) Angle, of Oshkosh; Susan (Fritz) Kruggel, of Nashville, Indiana; Kristie Dant, of Brownsburg, Indiana; sons, Timothy (Cheryl) Clark and Douglas (Mary) Clark, both of Oshkosh; Dean (Robin) Clark, of Noblesville, Indiana, and stepson, Charles Gilman, of Las Vegas, Nevada. He will be remembered as a loving grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 16 greats. Also surviving are brothers Jim (Sharon) Clark, of Oshkosh; Bruce (Glenann) Clark, of Janesville, Wisconsin; Tom (Dave) Clark, of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Charles (Dawnn) Clark, of Omro, Wisconsin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joanie Clark and Carol Bloom; an infant brother, John; and his stepmother, Florence (Michels) Clark.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Rd. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak St., Zionsville.
